Weekly Update

Dear Panther Community,
Good things:
  • We are staying as cool as possible. Our Library is air-conditioned and folks have been trading off for a nice break in the cool. Many are doing a great job of drinking water! We are persevering. :)
  • Fourth Graders will enjoy downtown Grand Haven's Artwalk this week!
  • Student Wellness Leaders from Fuel Up are working on a district-wide PE Fair on 10.4.
  • It's GHHS Homecoming this Friday - Go Bucs!
  • A district Hispanic Family Night is in the works
  • We continue sharing the message of "empathy" on Team Peach.
PANTHER PROWL FRIDAY,10.6: We are readying for our annual walk-a-thon event! It's our PTO's main fundraising source. Students voted for their preferred "reward" if our $25,000 goal is achieved. If we meet our goal, we will get a school pet! This is exciting! Further, online contributions have been offered again this year - trying to make giving simplified, if needed. Paperwork went home on Friday. Kindly see the office if another packet is needed. Thanks for your help! Volunteer info is coming!
WALK TO SCHOOL DAY 10.4.17: We will again offer a remote bus drop off for bus riders and encourage families to roll/stroll together. Wellness leaders will hand out tickets to participants for a drawing. In order for students to exit a bus early, please complete the permission slip and send to the office.
SQUARE ONE ART: This popular PTO offering is back. Recently information was sent home and additional blank art paper is in the office. Orders will arrive by the holidays.
BACKPACK BLESSINGS: This lovely offering for our community is back. See attached.
FIRE SAFETY EVENTS: The Grand Haven Township Fire/Rescue Open House is Tuesday, 10.10 at 13250 168th Ave. Enjoy free hotdogs, beverages, fire trucks, kid games, and much more!

TRIBUNE CLASSROOM OF THE WEEK - NOMINATE: The Grand Haven Tribune and Smile Grand Haven are partnering to bring back Classroom of the Week. Through this feature, we aim to highlight the great work being done in our local classrooms. The feature runs online and in print on the Tribune's education page each Friday. If there's a classroom you would like to see recognized as Classroom of the Week (now and throughout the year), please email Krystle Wagner at kwagner@grandhaventribune.com.
